About us
Animetal -- Anime Art in Metal
Animetal began at Anime Expo 1998, when Elias made
his first attempt to adapt the fan art of several Internet artists
in sheet metal. Finding it difficult to explain the concept in e-mail, he went to Japan,
got married, and found a wife do his bidding instead.
Hitomi, as a long-time manga and anime fan, participated in amature art activities,
such as working together with fellow Japanese high-schoolers on fan
comic books (Doujinshi) and newsletters. At the age of 32, we wonder
if it is too late for her to grow-up.
The designs of Animetal are adapted from sketches and placed in the
computer, and are cut by machine at Steel Silhouettes in Smokey Point,
Wasington. Sanded and powder-coated, safe for the outdoors, they ought
to last forever if handled with care.
Maru in our name Design Maru means round in
Japanese. Hitomi thinks her face and eyes are unusually round. Maru is
also commonly used in Japanese as part of a ship's name.
We thank you for choosing our unique crafts, and would appreciate
any comment or interest by fellow fans, by e-mail.
